Who are Taylor Swift’s songs in her new album about?
Because on Wikipeadia they said that each song was a message to somebody or had a message.. Does anyone know for each song?
Dear John – John Mayer – Though there is no confirmation, I think it’s pretty evident this song is about him. She did say this time she was naming names (which I thought she did that anyway….Drew, Cory…?). So, who knows.
Back to December – Taylor Lautner – An apology track – Beautiful song Definitely about Lautner as a shortened version of his name (Tay) is the code in the liner notes)
Better than Revenge – Camilla Belle – This may not actually be about her, but it is definitely aimed in her direction. Especially because when Taylor sings “She thinks I’m psycho cause I like to rhyme her name with things”, you can hear her say “Godzilla” in the background. Most likely this is an answer to Jonas Bros. song “Much Better”.
Last Kiss – Joe Jonas
Long Live – Her Band and everyone who supports her
Never grow up – Herself and the way she felt after moving into her own apartment
Innocent – Kanye West
Enchanted – Adam Young
Mean – Bob Lefsetz (a blogger who was a big fan but started being really mean on his website)
Story of Us – John Mayer most likely, but also could be Joe Jonas
Mine – Toby Hemingway — Even though she didn’t know him when she wrote the song, his name is the code in the lyrics in the liner notes. However, the song is NOT about him. It’s about a future love that she has yet to meet, but knows that whoever he is, he will be the best thing that has ever been hers.
Speak Now – This was written based on a friend of Taylor’s telling her how a guy she liked was getting married, and she thought about barging in and when the preacher said to “speak now or forever hold your peace”, she would tell the guy that she loved him and he should be with her.
Sparks Fly – This was written a long time ago, so it’s hard to say who it was written about, if it was written about anybody, since the original lyrics included lines like “I fell in love in an empty bar”. Taylor’s barely old enough to get into a bar, so I doubt this one is completely autobiographical.. Most speculate that it was written about someone named Cory, most likely the same Cory from her song Stay Beautiful on her debut CD. The code in the liner notes reads Portland, Oregon, which is where she first performed this song live.
Haunted – It’s extremely unclear who this is written about, if anybody. The code in the liner notes doesn’t help either. This song rocks though. It’s also essentially Twilight: New Moon in 4 minutes.So, who knows. Maybe she read New Moon or saw the movie and decided to write a song. Who knows.
