Twangy Guitar
easy way to play guitar with long fingernails?
I am just now trying to learn to play guitar but being a girl I have long fingernails (about a quarter inch out from the top of the finger). I am having trouble hitting only the chords I want and not ending up with muted or twangy chords.
I would like to not have to clip my nails but I don’t know if there is any way to learn to play guitar and keep them.
Will I be able to learn and does anyone have any advice in that regard, or should I just cut them short?
Unfortunately, your nails are going to get in your way on your fingering hand (left). However, there is a style of play called finger-picking in which having longer fingernails on your picking hand(right) actually comes in pretty handy.
