Bruges Hotels: A Foodie’s Guide
You can get to Bruges within two hours from most UK airports. You will find yourself in a world of horse-drawn carriages, medieval buildings and cobblestones to name a few. The food here is cooked using very simple methods, but it is extraordinary how well it is cooked. You can even taste the passion. The pride that the Belgians adopt for even the most basic foods certify that their cuisine is of an extremely high stock. Bruges is an ideal city for indulgence and decadence. One cannot visit Belgium without experiencing its chocolate. Guylian, Leonidas, Cote d’Or and Neuhaus are all famous brands that are based in Bruges. Many tourists are attracted to Bruges hotels so that they can go and see the old school chocolate making methods in practice. Access to the Bruges chocolate museum is inexpensive, even more so with a Bruges city card, and every circuit ends with a gratuitous sample of chocolate. If you are a fan of chocolate then you should visit one of the many chocolate stores in the city. Many have excessive displays with scupltures that have been carefully crafted. If you like chocolate drinks then you should try Dumon. There are several of these across the town.
The world’s only Friet Museum is also in Bruges. The name “french fries” actually derives from the way in which the potato is cut, which originites from Belgium. There is a chance to taste this local delicacy, which is cooked by the famous Belgian Royal Family’s chef. Fast food is hard to find in Bruges, but this is not to say that they don’t take food very seriously. Even the hotels serve hearty steak dishes, mussels, and waffles from morning to night.
Head to the supermarket and have a quick scan of the fine wines and beers. You should also explore the bars and pubs of the area so you can sample them. Near one of the best Bruges hotels is “The Bottle Shop”, which sells beers, wines, and spirits, along with recipes that combine alcohol and chocolate. Try their mojito truffles!
