Tchaikovsky Concerto

Tchaikovsky Concerto
What is the form of Tchaikovsky’s piano concerto number 1?

I cant seem to figure this out myself is it strophic, sonata form. rondo, or none? Thank you

Are you asking about all three movements?

The first movement is in sonata form.
The second movement is in ternary form.

The third movement is subject to debate.
I once had a heated argument with another contributor on this forum on the subject.
I said that the last movement alternates between two main themes,
with the sections beginning at measures:

1 = A theme in tonic
57 = B theme in Db major
89 = A theme in tonic
134 = B theme in Eb major
159 = A theme in tonic
252 = B theme in Bb major

The other person agreed on the A theme, but marked the sections as follows:

measure 1 = A
measure 37 = B, subsidiary theme in Gb major
measure 45 = C, modulatory passage from F major
measure 89 = A
measure 114= D, subsidiary theme in Ab major
measure 122 = B, modulatory passage from G major
measure 159 = A
measure 182 = E
measure 243 = F

Here is a good bibliographic index for questions like yours:

I don’t have access to any of those materials because I am in South Korea.
If you could write back and tell me what the authors of those books say, I would appreciate it.
