How should a guy dress for a theatre show, such as Sweet Charity?

I’m trying to decide whether to wear business casual, dress shirt and tie, or a suit. I’ve never been to a show like this before and don’t want to underdress, but also don’t want to overdress either.

You could always wear a suit. You’ll look smart and well put together. There will be many me wearing suits. If that’s to dressy for you, wear slacks and a dress shirt….maybe a sportcoat or a leather jacket. You’ll look cool and put together. Pretty much, don’t stress about it. You’ll see many wearing jeans, etc….as though they were going to some sporting event. Have fun! I hear the show is great!
