Should I study a year abroad in Japan afterall?
So, I really want to go to Japan for a year abroad. I want to go sophomore year, and I’m going into freshmen year right now. I;m getting Japanese Rosetta Stone right now, and plan on learning the basics of the language before I go. I told my mother about this, and she is fine with this. I just.. don’t know how to tell my dad, any tips? Price is no object (just saying). Also, do you think I could do two years?
Just be up front with him and show him that you have actually taken the time to do the research, so he sees you’re really serious about this. Two years probably isn’t feasible though if you want to finish your degree in 4 years. With all of the requirements of 4 year undergrad programs, 1 year is usually the longest you can study abroad without having to take summer school or add a couple extra semesters to complete everything.
