The Best Charity Singles EVER!

The release of the newest charity single Everybody Hurts has made me look back at some of the other charity singles that have existed over the years.

Do They Know It’s Christmas?

This is actually the first official charity song and it has to be the most famous. The main reason that this song was made was for the famine in Ethiopia. The song sold a million copies in its first week and was made by artists like Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Culture Club, U2, Sting and Phil Collins on the drums.

The Living Doll

This was a remake of the same song done by Cliff Richard and the cast of the young ones. Comic relief is where all of the money from this one went. Although Cliff was originally a bit sceptical about letting the cast sing with him (they were anarchic comedians and he was clean cut) he agreed and the song went straight to the top of the singles chart.

Earth Song

This is just one of many charity singles that Jackson had sung, he truly did care about the people of the world. Others that jackson have done include gone too soon and the fantastic Man in the mirror.

Of course just because a song is made for charity it does not mean that it is simply going to become an immediate success it takes a combination of both normal guitars and electric guitars and all of the other instruments along with the perfect sound of backing choirs and all other things that make the songs what they are.

Charity singles should not be brought for the reason that they are made for charity although they help out millions of people. If you do not actually like the song then why waste money buying it, go out and donate to charity instead.

So there you have it, some of the greatest charity singles ever to exist!
