HINTS TO MAKE YOUR PARTY SPRING INTO LIFE

Stuck for ideas for children’s parties ?
Having a theme is always a great idea.  Kids can dress up and it’s really easy to adapt games and entertainment to suit the theme.Plus, with a little imagination and research, the party eats can be turned into themed goodies, such as spider biscuits for a Spiderman party or witches’ brew for some Harry Potter magic.
And if you’re considering a jumping castle hire (which is always a huge hit with the kids), there is a huge variety available and the whole party can be centred around the theme of the chosen castle. From Harry and the Hogwarts, Batman and Shrek to Ariel and Disney Princess and everything in between – the range is huge.Always hire jumping castle from a company who use licenced, quality equipment.Safety – not fun – is the first consideration.
There are masses of games kids can play and it’s often the simple, traditional favourites that get the thumbs up.Following are a couple of simple ideas, but there are loads more to be found on the internet. For example, if you’re having a magic party, the kids could pin the glasses onto Harry Potter in place of the donkey’s tail. For a princess party, the girls could play pin the crown.Instead of ‘Simon says’, you could get the Gladiator or Harry Potter to lead the game !
Candy towers
The game can be played in teams or as individuals.Hand out the same number of toothpicks and a load of small, soft candies eg. mini marshmallows or jelly tots.By sticking the toothpick into the candy and joining it to other toothpicks etc. the kids make towers. The winner is the tallest tower or the most elaborate construction.
Candy ring
Organise children to sit in a circle around a sheet.Sprinkle candy and some small gifts onto the sheet, and organise turns throwing a rubber ring over the treats – they can then claim their prize.
Balloon popper or stomper
Insert wrapped candy into balloons and inflate them.  The more, the merrier. The kids can then stomp on the balloons or pop them to get the sweets. It’s crazy and frenetic and loads of fun.  The kids love it.  Always have some spare treats for anyone who comes up empty handed.
Ogther old favourites include blind man’s buff, follow the leader, pin the tail on the donkey and pass the parcel.
If you’re short on time or imagination, pre-prepared party games and accessories are available from novelty stores and some grocery stores.
Here are a few tips for the games:
* Give everyone a chance to be a winner.Always have a bag of small prizes or sweets handy so that no-one loses out.Sporstmanship is a tricky concept for younger ones to grasp, and the emphasis should always be on having fun
* Be aware of the mood. When it’s apparent that a game isn’t going well, move on swiftly and start the next game.Find something to distract them with.
* Preparation is key.Keep all the games and prizes etc in a special box and make sure everyone understands the rules of the games
* Make sure everyone is included
* Don’t let games drag on
* Organise a mix of action games with more peaceful ones
These ideas come from a Perth jumping castle hire company, which has the experience of many, many children’s parties over the years. The most successful parties are when the adults have done thorough preparations and made an extra effort. It is a responsibility hosting a party, but childhood memories are made from them.  Let the games begin !
