Sealed Import

Advice on power steering fluid for my Honda Prelude?
Hi, there–My beloved 1989 Honda Prelude is losing power steering fluid. I’ve used replacement fluid from AutoZone made especially for Hondas–but I think I’m still leaking. Here’s what I’m wondering:
Some other products on the shelf claimed to be able to help seal leaks, and that they were good for all cars, import and domestic. I was tempted to get one of these, but someone once told me not to use any fluid not specifically designed for Hondas.
What I’m wondering is: Any Honda owners have luck with a particular kind of steering fluid with a sealant? I’d like to try to stop my leak, but I don’t want to use stuff that’s bad for my car. And I don’t think I can afford a major repair. Anything over 250 bucks and it’s time to save for a down payment on something new!
Thanks a lot, Honda people!
Your friends steered you right!! If it isn’t designated HONDA, it isn’t wise to use it except in the event it isn’t available, and you MUST drive the car.
There isn’t many “stop-leak” products that will stop the leak, unless you know for sure that it is a seal. Most power steering leaks are from failed hoses and their connections, and the stop leak won’t help there.
It is time to pony up and bite the bullet; repair the leak. It will be cheaper in the long run, and your little car will be much more dependable.
Good Luck
