Does the calf muscle have anything to do in how fast you run?

Ok I’m in 7th grade and I’m 5’2. I am currently the 6th fastest runner in 7th grade. I was just wondering if the calf muscle involves how fast you run. If running does use the calf muscle, how do I make my calf muscle stronger?

all the leg muscles play some sort of role. The quad gives you more power. the hamstring makes your running smoother and the calf helps with dorsal flexion which is a vital part of good running form. ask your coach what dorsal flexion is, if he doesn’t know you need a better coach.
