Which kind of whistle does Mingus & Rahsaan Roland Kirk use?
It’s the one that goes from a low tone to a high tune very fast.
You can here it on the “Moanin’” piece played by the Mingus Big Band between 2:30-2:33 on the background. I’ll try to give more examples later.
Does anybody knows the name of the whistle? I want to buy one and I have no idea how to tell anybody what kind of whistle I’m talking about.

You could be looking for a slide whistle or “Swannee Whistle”
Roland Kirk also used an “Acme” siren which is a small tubular whistle with a rotor inside – the harder you blow the faster the rotor spins and the higher the sound.
