By Dan Ambrose: Ranked #1 by WBC in the middleweight division, unbeaten Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) will be facing light hitting junior middleweight Billy Lyell (22-0, 8 KO’s) on January 29th at the Estadio Banorte, in Culiacan, Sinloa, Mexico. If the 24-year-old Chavez Jr. beats Lyell, which is pretty likely given that Lyell is much smaller than Chavez because he fights at junior middleweight and has no power, Chavez will then be fighting interim World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight champion Sebastian Zbik on March 26th.
Chavez faces a single competitor upper band throughout his career for eight years and is quite remarkable, given all the fights that Chavez Jr. had. He fought once in 2010, beating fellow Top Rank stable fighter John Duddy per round decision 12. It was a good performance from Chavez, except that it has been shaken by the light reaching Duddy in round 6 and flush shots all night for Duddy slow hand.
Julio Cesar Chevas Jr. is a Mexican boxer, and just like his father, he has been around the boxing scene after a very young of age, but never at the top level because he always go for the easy fights. He has a career record of 41 wins belt 30 of them due to the knock-out. He is not the most effective fighter, but it is fast and very technichal say. It has a head to head against Billy Lyell, who was a great fight for over a year and althoug Chevas play at home we can still expect a great battle for him.

Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever [VHS] $19.98 From Wikipedia: Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever was a 1983 television special produced by Suzanne de Passe for Motown Records, to commemorate Motown’s twenty-fifth year of existence. (Motown was founded in January 1959, meaning that a twenty-fifth anniversary special should have aired in 1984, not 1983. One could argue that Gordy’s vision of what would become “Hitsville U.S.A.” was conceived … |
