Private Xian
I am 25% Chinese, went to a Chinese School, has a typical Chinese beauty BUT…?
BUT im not really good at speaking chinese…
I know a little, the basic ones since i studied in a private chinese school before college but its really different when you know and are confident in speaking chinese the fluent way..
at school we speak chinese during chinese time.. we read chinese stories using “kok im” but i didn’t really comprehend the stories at all.. During examinations i just memorized all the answers verbatim from the Q&A reviewer given by our “xian si”/ teacher.. Our xian si always encourage us to speak chinese but how can i, when we dont even practice it at home? Where do i start? How can i improve?
Then i went to college and meet these chinese people.. i am sometimes ashamed because i dont speak their language/our language.. i now realize the urgency of speaking chinese… I want to learn but i am embarassed about my accent…
They say that ill just have to practice speaking and speaking and speaking… would it really help? any suggestions?
yes, that would help. But I mean if you really want to learn chinese. Dont try to learn it if you feel somewhat compelled because of your heritage. I mean I’m half dutch and don’t speak a word of it.
