Worst Skiing In Canada For Years
Canada’s previous good snow was not evident this year after and very poor conditions left some people calling it the worst season in 10 years. People taking holidays in Canada this year got something of let down.
Canada is world renowned for provided plentiful snowfall and top class conditions for those seeking the white rush. The resort of Whistler is a house hold name and thousands of people embark on the pilgrimage to the great Canadian Rockies every year in search of their adrenaline fix. This last season however did not offer the splendors that most people were used to.
A freak -30 degrees high pressure period just before the Christmas period left the slopes wanting and the usual low pressure snow drop never really materialised.Drops of around 4cm happened occasionally but this barely covered the slopes and melted before to long.When interviewing people at the resorts, one man said “it’s been borderline terrible”. He had found his way out to the Castle Resort the week before but found bare slopes and zero snow when he arrived.“I maybe got 4 days of riding out of 14, that’s not good”. Another visitor said that she decided to ditch the skiing in favour of doing some sightseeing on one of the local company’s polar bear holidays.
The unusually small amounts of snow have caused some people to put the blame on global warming, states that temperatures have been incredibly sporadic and atmospheric pressures all over the place. A counter argument to this is the great conditions that Europe and most of America have had at their ski resorts, some of the best for years in fact. Most believe it simply bad luck and hope that their fortunes change next year
