Why is Mexican music so similar to Polish polkas? I played in a polka band many years.?
I suppose you are referring to norteño music. The similarity is because of the influence of German immigrants in some parts of norther Mexico. They brought instruments like the accorder and the tuba that are widely used in norteño music.
But Mexican music is very diverse, other Mexicans genres like huasteco or mariachi sound nothing like polka.
