The Bahamas International Film Festival
The Bahamas features its own version of Hollywood’s glitz and glamor at the Bahamas International Film Festival, also known as BIFF. Movie buffs and Hollywood fans will love this fabulous event. Occurring from 6 December to 13 December, the film festival is renowned for attracting heavyweights in the film industry such as Hollywood directors and A-list actors like Nicolas Cage, Johnny Depp and Sean Connery. At BIFF you will enjoy gala events, tributes, discussions, scriptwriting workshops, film making workshops, and special screenings.
St. Kitts Carnival
Celebration of island traditions and historical events is important to the people of many Caribbean Islands. Richly detailed costumes, decorations, flamboyant street revelry and parades filled with color and sights are the hallmarks of Caribbean carnivals. St. Kitts Carnival is unique for its holiday celebrations denoting national glory. It starts in mid-December and goes on until the second of January. Here are the things that are sure to enchant everyone who visits: gala street parties and pageants, many food fairs, marvelous music, and a grand parade.
The Jazz Festival on Cayman
Cayman Jazz festival is a newcomer to the jazz scene, but it is a fine place for people who love jazz or just want a fun and relaxing night out to find just what they seek. A combination of eclectic local musicians as well as well known performers such as Alicia Keys, Oleta Adams and Peabo Bryson will charm guests.
The Bahamas Junkanoo
The Junkanoo is not your average street parade. Everyday you have a different celebration marking that day. On the second Thursday in December, be sure to enjoy the Junior Junkaroo Parade which showcases the fabulous Bahamian Junkaroo dancers. Guests and visitors will be amazed at the skill of these young dancers whose talent and love for dancing has been ingrained and taught to them since childhood. Another one s the Junkanoo parade, which takes place on December 26. The Boxing Day Junkanoo parade is an event that includes costumes, performers, and unique music. Launched at 2:00 a.m. on the morning following Christmas midnight mass, the Bahamian parade is thought to be the biggest non-religious celebration.
The Heineken Kalalu World Music Festival at St. Lucia
Music lovers, and aficionados, will be feel a strong attraction to the island of St. Lucia, where the Heineken Kalalu World Music Festival is held. This musical festival prides itself with a colorful amalgam of different musical genres, traditions and styles and showcases all these on the oceanfront. The festival runs for four nights and is a multi-ethnic celebration of musical diversity that is enough to captivate any music aficionado.
