Captain America – When in the original 1940′s comic book did Captain America die? What issue?
I do not think it ever happened, I just think the comic petered out and they make up the story in the 60′s to explain why C.A. is frozen in the ice. In all the new movies, they will tell this as the real story. I cannot go back and buy all the comics as they cost $600.00 and up. I am worried that even the reprints from Marvel Masterworks will be altered.
You are correct but it is unlikely that the reprints will be altered. The character lost popularitgy and was canceled in the FIFTIES not the forties, then they came up with the iceberg story to explain how he could fight in world war ii and be young in the swinging sixties. The post-war captain was explained as a ringer and they have run through that ever since.
