Why Every Beatles Fan Needs To Buy The Beatles Stereo Box Set
The Beatles are definitely not a “best of” type of group. You cannot order just the “best of” album and be done with the most influential band ever. In actuality, think the majority of their greatest recordings were not their top hits but were instead their more adventurous tunes such as “I Am The Walrus.”
If you really want to understand The Beatles amazing music you must hear their CDs as a whole rather than just checking out the big hits. I’m not alone in believing that the Fab Four created many of the top rock albums ever and even their not so fantastic albums (like 1964′s Beatles For Sale) have quite a few good tunes.
That’s why I think it’s such a great idea to Order The Remastered Beatles Stereo Box Set. This box set contains every album (and every single song with the inclusion of the Past Masters double CD set) that the band released in the 60s.
It has{ pretty much} all of their officially released recordings except for The Anthologies and the Live at the BBC set. This seems right to me since those newer releases aren’t really a part of the “official catalog” of the band. These extras are sort of like the “special features” on a DVD while the original releases are the feature film.
There are actually a few more of their CDs that are not included in the box set, for example there’s 1999 release of a CD called Yellow Submarine Songtrack that is entirely different from the original Yellow Submarine album. It is actually much better in my opinion and definitely worth hearing because of it’s alternate mixes. Let It Be… Naked and Love are not included either.
As well as The Remastered Beatles In Stereo Box Set, I recommend that you Buy The Beatles In Mono Box Set which features the the mono versions of their songs up through 1968. It may be difficult to understand in the context of today, but when George Martin and the boys were recording they thought the mono mixes to be of far more importance in comparison with the stereo mixes up until about 1969.
