Easter Treats
Everybody is fond of sweets. Sweets have been made and eaten for thousands of years. Have you got a sweet tooth? For those that do, you will almost surely be counting down the days to Easter, a time when both children and grownups, are treated to Easter eggs and other confectionery. The massive confectionery industry has meant that an increasing variety of sweets and chocolate are being introduced to shop shelves each year. In addition, the high levels of artificial colours and additives in food, has sparked concern among many people. Therefore, as a result, sweets without such ingredients have recently been introduced. Commonly called talking sweets, children love this newish sweet.
In comparison, if we go back twenty years and visualise a traditional sweet shop full of shelves holding jars of Chocolate Limes, Aniseed Balls and Vanilla Fudge, you will immediately be taken back to your childhood. Also, this was an era when you asked for a quarter of your desired sweets and they were given to you in a small paper bag. It was a time when children wanted to walk into Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. Unfortunately, despite the warm nostalgia the thought of them bring, these traditional sweet shops are becoming an increasingly rare sight. Nevertheless, as retro and old is now in vogue, this traditional type of confectionary is still available to buy. Stockists online and stockists located on the High Street have started to supply these so they are now fairly easy to find. They have most of your old favourites from Black Jacks, Sherbet Fountain and White Mice. You will also be able to get hold of sour sweets like sour apple cubes.
