Using Less Printer Ink

Nonstop printing, or printing reams of documents can make your expenses on printer ink very high. While there is the option to use low cost, low grade printer inks to replace your genuine ones, your printer is at high risk of being damaged by it. Ideally, the correct and easiest way to save up on ink expenses is to make it last longer. Everywhere you look, there’s a store selling cheap ink, but again, if you regularly print stuff, this can be quite expensive. There’s a plethora of marketing programs to get you buying more and more printing ink these days, but learning how to use less is still key. Simple things can be done to limit how much you have to spend on printer inks. Using fonts that require too much ink should be avoided. These types or style of fonts tend to use more ink. If there is nothing prohibiting the use of smaller thinner fonts, then go for those instead. Just before printing, proofread it. Edit if necessary and trim down to what is really required in the document to avoid ink wastage. Print only what you need and discard the rest. Skip printing in colored if your print-outs are just for personal consumption or just for filing. Set your printer to “Monochrome” or ” Grayscale” and use colored ink only for reports or presentations. After all, there is no use on wasting color on simple texts and web print-outs. Make sure to update your printer’s settings even before printing your documents. The draft or quick print setting will save you tons of ink in the long run. Documents that can be printed on these settings should be, as ink that is used up on these prints are half of what is used for normal print outs. Once your printer is telling you that you are running low on ink, try shaking the ink cartridge. This makes sure that you use your ink up to the last drop. Make sure that your ink cartridge is really empty before installing a new one and do not automatically believe the warning signals of your printer. Print using both black and color once in a while to keep your ink “alive”. Print something small that will let you use both black and colored inks at least once a week. Letting your printer ink sit idle for too long will only dry them out. Ink save software was created because a lot of people are experiencing this problem. A software that can run on both Windows and Mac, GreenPrint is a software that can be downloaded online. This software goes through your prints, just before printing and gets rid of unwanted pages. Following these tips will certainly prevent you from shelling out big costs on printer ink. Aside from the monetary benefits, you’ll be doing your part in saving our planet. At the end of the day, it’s not just how much money you saved but also how efficiently you were able to use your ink up to the last drop.
