Why do my tennis strings move so much?
I use a Head Liquidmetal OS and Gamma Live Wire XP gauge 16 strings. I hit with a good amount of top spin, semi-western and eastern grip. Almost any time a rally is finished, I look at my racket and my strings are just all over the place. I have only used these new strings at 58lbs string tension for one week. I always wonder why it looks like strings of the pros rarely move, when they place at a string tension much lower than mine. Can someone please help?
It is probably because you use a lot of spin. Semi-western tends to generate a lot of topspin. The pros switch raquets fairly often in their matches, and so they tend not to have to deal with their strings as much; they are newer and perhaps less pliable. Also, I would recommend using some sort of luxalon strings, or a hybrid of luxalon, because these strings usually stay relatively stationary.
For the most part, though, moving strings is just something you’re going to have to deal with. Everybody does (at least everybody that hits with any decent amount of pace).
