Lives Inbalance

I’ve been diagnosed with vertigo and I’m scared.?

I usually take medical difficulties pretty well (having asthma all my life I kinda get used to things…) but I’ve been diagnosed with vertigo caused by an inbalance of fluid in my right ear. I’ve been put on a strict low-sodium diet and have been prescribed various medications by my ear doctor. I don’t know how I’m going to react to them and I’m scared. On top of everything I’m going away to college for the first time and I feel very insecure with this development. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It sounds like you may suffer from an inner ear disorder called Meniere’s disease/syndrome(fluid build up in cochlea(inner ear) for unknown causes), although there are many other causes. Areas to explore are allergies, thyroid and diabetes, inflammation from any cause, high cholesterol/triglycerides, arterial vasospasms, mineral deposits/debris, bacterial/viral infections.Try mixing half castor oil, half fish oil together and apply this twice a day in and around your ear-this will help with swelling. To improve the circulation to the inner ear, the following supplements will help-niacin(the flushing kind), vinpocetine(used in Europe, Russia, Germany, and Japan for this very reason as well as certain brain disorders), and Ginka Biloba. Low potassium uptake has been explored and you may wish to increase the potassium in your diet. Make certain you have no health problems or are pregnant before taking these supplements. In the event it doesn’t subside, you will//have some hearing loss, tinnitis(noises in the ear), and vertigo(spinning feeling)-the supplements will help with this. Try Ginger for the dizziness. As far as allergies go, the most common food allergies are the culprit-wheat, beef, and milk. Try avoiding these as well as spices or caffiene drinks(colas, coffee, tea) Most often, but not always, only one ear is affected. If caught early, and the symptoms subside, you may not have any more episodes. Visit my website newsletter at naturescorner.com for more information.
