Is the unabridged version of That Hideous Strength by C.S. Lewis significantly better than the abridged one?

I bought a copy of the book but it turned out to be the abridged version. Would I miss out on much by reading this instead of the original version?

I have never read the abridged version – indeed, I didn’t know that there was one out there. However, from the point of view of someone who has read this book 5+ times and really likes it, the work is so integrated that I can’t imagine cutting anything out without seriously damaging the whole. In short, give yourself a treat and read the whole thing.
