What did comedian Lenny Bruce contribute to Freedom of Speech?
After most of his arrests for talking “dirty” he and the ACLU pursued the cases. The courts eventually sided with him causing a number of anti free speech laws to be struck.
Also brought public attention to the fact that these laws were on the books and being used against those not only talking dirty but trying to communicate feelings that where against the status quo, such as civil rights information in the South and those that believed differently from the government about such things as war.
