Argentina Travel: Best Music Festivals
Every year, summer in Argentina draws in great international bands. Many Buenos Aires music venues, stadiums, and concert halls host some of the world’s finest artists. The fully booked venues blast music of all music genres. Music may range from folklore, electronic, pop, India, reggae, and rock. The trick is knowing where you can get your boogie on at the “bestivals” around.
Pepsi Music Festival: This series of concerts takes place along the Costanera Sur. Pepsi hosts a range of acts but the main theme is rock. In 2010, they had a day of reggae. This is usually the biggest music festival to come to Argentina, taking place both indoors and outdoors. Unfortunately this popular event has a hefty price tag. Prices range from $100-250 per day, depending on what you choose to see.
Hot Festival: Like the name indicates this event is HOT! This event also takes place along the Costanera Sur but is geared more toward the Indie-pop-rock crowd. The two-day festival hosts bands like: Stereophonics, Mika, Scissor Sisters, and Massive Attack. Tickets range from $190-$420.
Creamfields Festival: Over ten years of Creamfields Festival in Buenos Aires has made this one of the world’s biggest dance festivals. Originally beginning in the UK, it hosts some of the hottest dance DJs including a few of electronica’s best in Autodromo de Buenos Aires. Tickets cost $170 + $17 booking fee.
Buenos Aires Jazz: The international Jazz festival is hosted in the capital city and celebrates a superb mix of global musicians. Three years running, the festival has invited national and international jazz artists to perform in large open concerts as well as small close-knit gigs. Happening at various concert halls, theatres, venues, and public spaces across the city, many entry-fees are a bargain and occasionally free. Listen to original music, nu-flow jazz, acid jazz, Spanish jazz, electro-jazz, and other styles at BA Jazz.
Aires Bueno Aires Festival: Held in small venues to museum gardens and open air venues, Aires Buenos Aires is one of the best music festivals in South America. Featuring national rock, folklore, tango, jazz, and blues, as well as poetry readings, tango dancing, and activities for kids this festival is ideal for families. Dust off your picnic blanket and chill out with your friends or family in this beautiful capital city.
If you will not be traveling in Argentina for any of these amazing festivals, keep your eyes open for concerts at Luna Park Stadium (http://www.lunapark.com.ar/) and River Plate Stadium (http://www.cariverplate.com/) which frequently have big name artists.
