Its Time
How to make cats stop playing when its bed-time…?
Is this even possible? I have been trying to figure out a way to show my cats that when the lights go out and we get in bed, its time for them to stop running around crashing into everything. I know this will be difficult, seeing as how my cats are litter-mate brothers, just over a year old, and they love to play.
Cats are crepuscular, active at dawn and twilight, and you can train them to sleep at night although it may take some time if they are young and active.
Cats have a hunt, eat, groom, sleep cycle that you can mimic with lots of exercise an hour or two before bed and then their dinner. Hopefully this will encourage them to groom as you are getting ready for bed and then sleep when you sleep.
It also helps if they have a very warm bed as being chilly can wake them up.
