Hot Rocks
Is it safe to keep hot rocks in my Gecko’s terarrium?
I have a leopard gecko thats about 6 in. long, and I have him in a 20 gal tank. I have a heat lamp, and rocks underneath for him to climb on. They get hot sitting near that heatlamp. Should this be a problem? What will happen to her if I keep them there?
You should never under any condition put a hockrock in your Gecko’s tank. Gecko’s cannot register when they get too hot on their belly and will more then likely get burnt if not killed if left on too long.
After reading your question again I see you didn’t mean hotrocks but hot rocks from the lamp. That really depends on how hot the rocks get. Remember the recommended temperature for a gecko’s cage is 80-88 degrees so if it’s any hotter then that I would move it away from the lamp to make it cooler.
