What is the difference between town home and town home style condominiums[that looks like town home-2/3 story]?

I am looking for a new town house and I found some new homes in San Jose area. They look like town homes [2/3 story]. But, later I found that those were town home style condominiums. I am wondering what is the difference between these two – town home and town home style condominiums?

The difference isn’t the building but the ownership.

In a condominium, you own your walls and all the “space” within them, but own a percentage of the building complex. In other words you would own x% of the land and the exterior walls.

In a town home, you own the exterior walls and the land on which it sits.
