First came the percolator in the 19th century. The same technology was later used to invent the drip coffee maker. It works by passing boiled water through a strainer which contains the coffee grounds. Usually, this process is repeated until the coffee is made.
In the 1960?s, the drip brewer became commercially available
The majority of American homes use the drip model, one of the most popular models. About 50 years ago this model was introduced to the market. A drip brewer functions by warming water until it is almost boiling and makes bubbles. The bubbles make the heated water pass through a tube so as to enter a second reservoir where brewing of coffee grounds are done.
