Odors can build up promptly in hen houses and a couple of properly placed windows will keep clean air blowing through. The additional air flow will also help keep the shed drier which is helpful because a moist coop is a source of disease.
When building hen houses there are various other important considerations. Make it facing south for the greatest sun exposure. Make certain it’s in an area with good water drainage and that there’s enough room for future expansion. You may start with only a few birds, but if you wish to raise more birds at some point in time you will need the additional room.
Build the pen so you can gather eggs from the exterior of the shed without distressing the birds.
