Is it illegal to block an intersection with your vehicle on a green light?
I live in Fort Wayne, Indiana and there is a lot of construction, thus causing traffic jams. When cars are all the way down the street to the intersection, is it legal to pull in behind them on a green light? I would also be behind them in the middle of the intersection on a red light for us.
I don’t know if that made much sense, but you get the idea that it would be “blocking the intersection” I guess. Is this legal or illegal?
In most jurisdictions, it is illegal to ENTER an intersection until it is clear you have sufficient room to EXIT the intersection. This applies regardless of any traffic control device. If there is an officer directing traffic, their instructions override ALL rules.
