Also I was just wondering why is there lots of aluminium in the ground, way more than iron, but it is more expensive to buy. It probably has to do with reactivity and extracting from ore costs.
Ag, Au, an Pt are found native in the earth, and not as compounds, because they are stable metals, and not easily oxidized, as are other metals. There are plenty of examples of other elements that ore found in nature as elements (O2, N2, He, Ne, Ar, C, H2, Rn, Xe, S).
