“Non ho l’età” (sometimes Non Ho L’Età Per Amarti, English translation: “I Am Not Old Enough (To Love You”), literally “I Don’t Have The Age (To Love You)”) was the winning song in the Eurovision Song Contest 1964 performed in Italian by Gigliola Cinquetti representing Italy.
The song is sung from the perspective of a young girl who is telling her lover that she is not old enough to love him properly, but that one day she intends to do so. She pleads with him to “Let me live a romantic love” while she waits to be old enough to love properly.
The song was performed twelfth on the night (following Portugal’s António Calvário with Oração and preceding Yugoslavia’s Sabahudin Kurt with Život Je Sklopio Krug). At the close of voting, it had received 49 points, placing 1st in a field of 16
The song was succeeded as Contest winner in 1965 by France Gall singing Poupée De Cire, Poupée De Son for Luxembourg.
