This joint John Legend and some other writers sampled from an old joint (I never heard of b4, until this new version came out) written by a guy named Gabor Szabo back in the ’60s, and the name of Szabo’s song is “Stormy”.
Well do y’all think Legend shoulda gotten a Soul Train award for the song last year?

Gabor Szabo was a jazz guitarist who covered the song Stormy in 1969 and this was where John Legend borrowed the organ riff

They’re an old group way before John Legend came to be.
No one covered John Legend’s Save Room. He sampled a riff from an old song because he liked it. I guess John Legend already paid the necessary royalty to whomever owned it.
