How do I detect the cause and source of flickering horizontal lines on my LCD display?

My LCD display is connected to a front panel interface board via a 30cm flex cable. The signals are all digital. I suspect that it could be an EMI problem, but how do I know for sure and from where? Thanks :)
The previous LCD I used was fine and this LCD is supposed to be the upgraded version of my previous one. Btw, the flickering I mentioned is not the variation in brightness but rather thin horizontal black lines that run across the screen at random time and position.

Flickering is usually a cause of an unsupported framerate. Try changing the refresh rate under monitor settings. Otherwise, it would propably be your graphics card.
