Whats a good excuse to stay home from early morning class?
I have this early morning math class from 7:10 to 8:10 everyday. I don’t want to go to the class tomorrow, but i do want to go to school for the rest of the day. So I need a way to convince my parents to allow me to stay home from this class and a believable excuse for the teacher. I didn’t think I did well on my homework and the teacher is harsh when we do bad, so I need a good excuse.
I’m sorry to hear that the teacher’s attitude is causing the very students, such as you, who need help to become afraid to come to class. But you cannot change the teacher. You can only control what you do. First, when you are faced with a nasty situation, one good approach is to try to put yourself in the strongest possible position. If there is any way that you can see the teacher before class begins, it might be wise to say simply that you had some serious problems understanding the homework and would like some help. If the teacher goes into class knowing that you had difficulty, there is less of a chance you will be ridiculed for having wrong answers. A second choice is to raise your hand and ask questions about the assignment at the beginning of the class, so that your weaknesses get out in the open in a situation you control instead of your being called on when you are not ready. But the bottom line is this: You will spend a lifetime dealing with nasty people who make you want to throw up, but you cannot spend a lifetime hiding and running away. You are stuck in this situation and it feels terrible. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. But I can tell you the part which you have not yet experienced: this is going to be over and done with someday, you will have moved on, and the teacher’s bad attitude will not prevent you from being successful. Go to class, keep your head high, and struggle through it. You will come out the better for it.
