Cheap Villa Holidays In Sunny Lanzarote
The little island of Lanzarote offers big value for money for anyone seeking a self catering holiday on a budget. As it is home to a very large selection of privately owned accommodation – normally available at prices that just cannot be matched in other parts of Spain. As here owners enjoy a year round rental season – as well as a reliable flow of tourist guests.
Along with the other six Canary Islands Lanzarote enjoys a fantastic semi-tropical climate, delivering clement weather whatever the time of year. Thanks to its geographical situation close to the Tropic of Cancer and just off the coast of Africa. This is married with very low levels of rainfall, together creating a dry and arid terrain – desert like in places – which is largely devoid of trees and vegetation.
The scenery here is made even more surreal and strange by the fact that Lanzarote was rocked by enormous amounts of volcanic activity some 250 years ago. Leaving much of the interior of the island looking like a scene from a science fiction film.
Away from the volcanic region Lanzarote´s beauty is more conventional and in keeping with other holiday islands. With around 100 beaches sprinkled around the coastline and three modern and well developed holiday resorts for visitors to enjoy. Which is also the location most of the top choices of Luxury Lanzarote villas and other prime holiday accommodation for example self catering apartments.
Puerto del Carmen is the islands main resort – located close to the only airport at Arrecife and blessed with an abundance of golden sand beaches. Accounting for its enormous popularity with tourists from across Europe over the last forty years. As well as excellent nightlife and a large selection of bars and restaurants.
For example, most Private villas in Puerto del Carmen start at around €500 per week and all boast good quality amenities such as private pools, ADSL connections and satellite TV.
Playa Blanca is the second biggest destination on the island after Puerto del Carmen. And it has grown quickly since development work first started here in earnest some thirty years ago. Today the resort is a hot choice with visitors keen to secure well priced self catering properties. An excellent range of Private villas in Playa Blanca can be found here.
As a year round destination Lanzarote can be enjoyed any time. But certain months are better than others – with the most unreliable weather usually being recorded during February and March.
Other popular resorts include Costa Teguise which is certainly just about the most northerly resort on the island and is always just a relaxing fifteen minute taxi or coach ride from the main airport, and not forgetting the islands newest high end resort of Puerto Calero which is unashamedly targetted towards the exclusive end of the holiday market place with an outstanding collection of boutiques. and lastly as would definitely be expected from a resort of this prominence an impressive 400 plus berth marina if you’re privileged enough to be able to vacation here on ones own private motor or sailing boat.
Must see attractions on the island include for example The Cactus Garden -The site here was formerly a quarry – but today it is home to over 1,000 different species of cacti. All artfully arranged in terraces around this bowl shaped ampitheatre-like space.

After initial resistance, the heroine nobly resign… |

Flaming Star $4.59 Definitely a contender for the underwhelming title of Best Elvis Movie, this handsomely shot Western actually makes Elvis act, rather than coast on his personality. (As though to underscore the point, the two obligatory songs are dispensed with under the opening credits and in the first scene.) Don Siegel was probably the best director the King ever worked with, and he draws a quietly smoldering p… |

Jamon Jamon [VHS] $18.95 Salted pork shanks as leitmotiv in a dark comedy about an absurd love triangle: this is what post-Franco cine is all about (food and sex). Spanish tortillas (i.e., potato omelets) are also big in this one. Director José Juan Bigas Luna’s Jamón Jamón is intelligent, wry, and–despite the formulaic narrative that melodrama must essentially contain–unpredictable. At times his film exudes a certai… |

Davy Crockett: King of Wild Frontier [VHS] $5.25 Fess Parker captured the hearts of millions with his strong, confident portrayal of the legendary king of the wild frontier. There’s never been a folk hero quite like Davy Crockett, and you’ll see why when you watch him “grin” down a bear, battle an Indian chief in a tomahawk duel, and fight for freedom at the Alamo. Disney’s popular action-adventure inspired millions of children to sport coonskin… |

Cheyenne Autumn [VHS] $14.94 Cheyenne Autumn is a beautiful title to grace John Ford’s final Western, but the film falls short of the occasion. The great director’s ambition to tell the story, for once, from the Indians’ point of view is only partially fulfilled. He’s unambiguously sympathetic to the Cheyennes’ resolve to bolt the reservation and trek back to their ancestral lands, while most of white society, the milita… |
