you like it because it is a great song and it is featured in one of your favorite movies.
what do i think of it? i have this initial reaction to try and dismiss it as “beefheart lite” and yet the song itself is too good to be dismissed simply by virtue of being a bit more mainstream than most of his efforts. the arrangement still oozes with originality and innovation one would expect from beefheart, even as it feels so accessible on a casual listen. its a really great song.
similar beefheart? hmmm…. when i see mommy i feel like a mummy, tropical hotdog night, autumn’s child…
BQ: my aim is true (of course).. but i have a feeling that you secretly meant to leave this one out too, despite that it isnt with the attractions. so in the spirit of that assumption, i’m torn between cojack variety (generally dismissed because it is all covers, but a great album) and sacred profane and sugar cane, which i though was his best album in quite a while.
