Conducts Wagner

It’s my birthday today. Recording suggestions, please?
?
As a present to myself, I’ve decided to spend as much as the law will allow on CD’s. So I’m looking for the best of the best when it comes to the recording’s. Best conductor and best orchestra.
I’m looking to find:
Symphony No.5 – Tchaikovsky (thinking of getting a recording of Marvinsky conducting)
‘Petrushka’ – Stravinsky (hoping to get the 1911 version)
Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini – Rachmaninoff
‘The Planets’ Suite for Orchestra – Holst
Piano Concerto No.1 – Tchaikovsky
‘Rhapsody in Blue’ – Gershwin
‘The Ring of the Nibelung’ (the whole thing
) – Wagner
Piano Concerto No.2 – Rachmaninoff
Symphony No.6 – Tchaikovsky
I think these are very good presents, don’t you?
Also, any random piece that you would like to suggest (and the best recording of the piece) would be great. I have a lot of money to spend!
Hey Joshua; glad to see you’ve posted a question.
I emailed you my private e-mail address via this program, should you ever wish to talk, or just “chit chat”; please let me know if you received it.
And in relating to – NIBELHEIM – in it I also mentioned “OpernKat..”, my collaborator on it; here’s his website – you might be interested in browsing thru it:

As to recommendations for your CD purchases, I have only a few to make:
(1) Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini – Rachmaninoff
I’ve always been of the opinion that Artur Rubinstein was the greatest of 20th century pianists: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASR8dgqIU-g
(2) you didn’t list it, but I think you should include the Tchaikovsky “4th Symphony”. And the best by far I’ve ever heard was by Raphael Kubalik and the CSO – unfortunately again like the Rubinstein an ancient recording made I have no idea when – and too, no You Tube video of his conducting it; but here’s his interpretation of a famous Mahler piece: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=My3xqYBGKP4
(3) The Ring of the Nibelung: as I’m sure I’ve mentioned before, there’s no recording to compare with the Solti VPO(the finale, studio recording): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=146tTKSXu7s
You might also be interested if you’ve not seen it, in the BBC documentary(from which the above video is a segment)of “The Golden Ring”: about the named Group’s recording of the entire Ring over several decades: http://www.amazon.com/Golden-Ring-Making-Soltis-Wagner/dp/B0000631A8
Take care,
Alberich
