Common Ground

I am building my own xbox 360 arcade stick. What does a common ground mean when doing my soldering.?

it says some controller have a common ground and some don’t. I know each botton has its own ground point and signal point to solder too. what what does a common ground mean?

The ground is one of the wires of the USB cable you will be using to make your stick. The easiest way to do it is to just solder the USB ground to a screw or something, and then solder all of the “common” grounds to the screw. You don’t want to ground everything all over the place simply because it isn’t necessary. Generally the USB ground is a black wire, while red is +5v, Green is data (+) and white is data (-)
