Any unique(non-tourist) places to visit near the Chicago loop?

I’m aiming at fun and interesting, adventurous, less expensive.
Thrift stores, quirky hole-in-the wall dives, places to meet interesting people, experience culture, galleries, vinyl record stores, independent bookstores, eclectic bars(not clubs) with drink specials, places that host comedy/open mic. Anywhere you have been that has entertained/captivated you, a fovourite that you would like to share.. please do.

There is a museum on Lake Shore Dr in the heart of the Gold Coast that few Chicagoans know. It’s a real gem. It is very quirky but not really a dive. There is artwork and instruments from the ages…check it out below:
