City Blues

Opinions on Jack Kerouac’s “Mexico City Blues”?
Thoughts on it? I want to get it, and plan on doing so this weekend, I was just thinking I would open the work up to discussion. And while we’re on Kerouac, what’s your favorite work of his?
Peace.
Bob B: I have read On the Road and found it to be remarkable. I recommend that you take the time to read some more of his works before you condemn Kerouac. Read “Dharma Bums” and get back to me.
I’ve tried really hard to appreciate Kerouac, but I just can’t get into his writing. I read On the Road recently, and to me the story was parched, it just seem like an endless succession of events, and I didn’t get a real story of self discovery or the lack there of out of it, I wasn’t ignited to wander. I feel a bit like a literary degenerate because of the fact that I can’t appreciate Kerouac, so if anything I need help discovering a love for Kerouac.
