Christy Minstrels
Is there any way I can get the lyrics from the song “Last Farewell” as recorded by the New Christy Minstrels?
This song was from The New Christy Minstrels album “Ramblin’” which also contains the hit single “Green, Green” originally released as CS 8855 on Columbia Records in 1963.
I tried everything I could to get the lyrics, however, The New Christy Minstrels themselves refuse to reveal them anywhere.
The melody of this song is similar to that of the Kingston Trio’s “The River is Wide” also recorded by the Seekers later in the 1960′s. Lyrics to “The River is Wide” are available but not to the “Last Farewell”.
Could it be that the “Last Farewell” by The New Christy Minstrels is only a takeoff on “The River is Wide” by the Kingston Trio as the result of no lyrics released for the “Last Farewell”?
