This works for both hunters and Minstrels and it doesn’t require potions, just skills

Simply start attacking from range, let the Gorthorog to get closer and when you are at 75% morale use fear (bards arrow or cry of the valar) to fear it. Let it get some ranged space and repeat. You should take him down in 3+ fear attempts.

Try to do it this way (fearing when loosing 25% of morale) since fear may be resisted so you will have to take some punches :D

Also, for hunters, try this where the mob has no other mobs around that can be aggroed when in fear

Looking for One Shot Recipes

Posted by: Admin   in Crafting, Economy, Solo Combat

These will drop randomly from human / humanoids. Specially high level ones. If you want to increase your chances of getting these I would suggest trying the following places: Sarnur, Annuminas, Goblin Town.

Lots of Lvl 50 weapons have light damage and that is good but for certain mobs (ask a friend Lore-Master) specially in the rep dungeons you will need Westernesse and Ancient Dwarf Make damage to get the most from your weapons. Those three damage types are the most common. Light will work on both situations.

Acorns

Posted by: Admin   in Group Combat, Guardian, Solo Combat

the Guardians can crate Acorns (level 38+). These items are sent my mail to another character who can summon the Guardian to where he / she is.
This will not work if one of the players are in an instance. Anyway both characters need to be near a mailbox to make it work.

Closest target

Posted by: Admin   in Group Combat, Monster Play, Solo Combat

Use the Backspace Key to automatically select the closest target. This is specially useful at the Ettenmoors in crowded areas where you barely know your character form the all others :D

Soloing same level elite beasts with a hunter

Posted by: Admin   in Hunter, Solo Combat

- Buff (food, armor, whatever)
- Set Traps
- Use all that you got.
- When at 60 - 70% morale use cry of the Predator. Shot a couple times more and use Quick Shot to make the beast slower.
- Hit him again. When reaching 40 - 50% morale use Quick Shot again, use traps if you have (the ones that will work in combat).
- Run without make in it restart and use Quick Shot until you can use Cry of the Predator Again.
- At this point it should be over…

Use salves in case of emergency :D

Posted by: Admin   in General Gameplay, Group Combat, Solo Combat

LOTRO has a color description for each level group:

Grey - Enemy is 9 or more levels below you (you get no XP for the killing)
Green - Enemy is 6-8 levels below you
Light Blue - Enemy is 3-5 levels below you
Blue - Enemy is 1-2 levels below you
White - Enemy is the same level as you
Yellow - Enemy is 1-2 levels above you
Orange - Enemy is 3-4 levels above you
Red - Enemy is 5-7 levels above you
Purple - Enemy is 8 or more levels above you

Ranks

Swarm (Green): some nature mobs, bats, roots.
Normal (Blue): wolves, humanoids, these is the common group.
Signature: the one of a kind… harder to kill but still soloable.
Elite (Eye of Sauron): hard to kill.Require special skills combinations or small fellowship.
Elite Master (Eye of Sauron + 4 Spikes): hard to kill. Requires Fellowship.
Nemesis (Elite + 6 Spikes): harder to kill.
Arch-Nemesis (Elite + Flaming Eye): Nazgul and other creatures.

Even for quest items, food, chests, cocoons, nodes, etc hit the Del button and check in your UI Settings for the option Directional Selection Indicator and mark it. It will display a dotted red line that will help you find the way. You can also use the /follow command.

Rain of Arrows Tactics

Posted by: Admin   in Group Combat, Hunter, Solo Combat

DO NOT use Rain of Arrows unless you are confident about the area of effect (AOE) that you will cover with this skill since that can get the attention of adds (aditional mobs around the area). It is a bad habit to use that in crowded areas and get more mobs into the fight.
