Can you get In-state tuition if both of your parents went to that college?
I live in Illinois but both of my parents graduated from ferris state university in Michigan. They were also both born in Michigan. I was born in new York. Can I get in-state tuition at ferris or any college in Michigan?
The short answer is: No.
The long answer is: No, you cannot.
Okay, I’m being facetious, but really, no you can’t. Unless your parents want to make up a fake address for you in Michigan or falsify documents to make it look like you’ve resided there for whatever number of years is necessary to have in-state tuition, no. You get no benefit for your parents having lived in the state however many years ago.
(JSYK, you also wouldn’t have instate tuition in New York.)
