Brownsville Station
Does anyone remember a group called “The Jazz” with a hit called “I’m In Love” popular circa 1987?
I was home in Brownsville PA during the summer of 1987 and got to listen to my favorite radio station, WAMO-FM 105.9 from Pittsburgh. I really dug this song by a group whose name (I think) was “The Jazz” by title “I’m In Love” (I could be wrong about the title too!). The group may have been a local or regional group because I have never heard of them since, or in any other locale around that time. (I was just entering the military – Ft Knox, Ft Polk, after college at FAMU).
But I believe the song started out something like this:
“I knew you wanted me when
you looked in my direction
I’m glad I turned you on
You seemed like the kind of girl
who wouldn’t play with a man’s affection . . .
Who’d think that I’d be wrong . . .”
Please please, does anyone know of this group or this song?
I searched high and low for your criteria and couldn’t come up with much. ABC had a song call “I’m in Love” but it did not match your lyrics. As far as the band “The Jazz”, I couldn’t find anything. “Johnny Hates Jazz” had a song call Shattered Dreams, but again didn’t match your lyrics. The weird this is that those lyrics sound so familiar. Sorry I couldn’t help you more. I’m usually very good with 80′s stuff.
