Brownie Mcghee

What’s The Difference Between Blues And Country, Where Did Country Come From?
I listen top alot of blues, mainly delta and country blues.
My favourite country blues artists are:
Woody Guthrie
Bob Dylan
Lead Belly
Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee
Blind Willie McTell
I’m not stupid I know there’s a difference between Country and Blues and seeing as I don’t listen to country I don’t know it. can some one explain the difference and explain where country came from, did it come from the Blues,
?
I call Folk Blues Country Blues because I’ve heard more people use that term to describe Folk Blues, I am in no way affiliating country with blues.
I know that most people would describe Dylan and Guthrie as folk singers but I refer to them now as country blues because my friend says that american folk music and folk revival isn’t “real” folk.
I’ve tried explaining it to her but she can be very stubborn.
Blues is black man’s music. Country is white man’s music. Until the 1960s, there was no crossover. Country music is largely based upon folk music of the various European nations who emigrated to America – especially Irish, Scottish and German. Blues has various roots but most American black music is greatly influenced by African music.
