Brass Ensemble
whats the summer like from the front ensemble perspective for drum corps?
ive already heard stories from friends about guard, battery, & brass, but no one I know has been apart of the pit yet. im just curious what its like for them
i mean, im well acquainted with being in pit. im front ensem. leader at my high school & have been playing marimba for 4 years. what would be like the day in the life of a pit member? id really like people that have done it before answer
Being that the pit doesn’t march, in the field show, they obviously don’t have to spend time learning drill. Instead, they spend more time practicing their music. Some like to complain about the work involved with moving all their instruments and equipment, but ignore it.
The one time they do march is in parades, usually in front as the color guard (the real kind, with an American flag, protected on either side with a rifle or saber, literally guarding the colors). They might also carry a banner with the corps’ name on it, if the corps has one.
