Brahms Double
Can you suggest some more music like this Brahms?
Symphonies 1 (1st and 4th movements), 3 (1st and 4th) + Double Concerto (4th) I love my allegro! Which other composers have a similar sound (except the obvious Beethoven!). Does anyone else love this sort of stuff?
glinzek- I’m already on the rest of the Brahms Symphonies and the Haydn variations (I love them but not quite as much – apart from the end of the Haydn variation which is brilliant!). I like Mendelssohn and will certainly give the ones you suggest some more time. I also love Schubert’s string quartet style stuff, so I think you’re onto a winner there! Berlioz is something I have never listened to! Can’t wait!

Well, obviously the rest of Brahms Symphonies!! Try # 4 — it is marvelous. The 2nd Piano concerto of his is another. And the “Variations on a Theme by Haydn”.
You might like Mendelsohns “Scottish Symphony” — his 3rd. It is usually coupled with the “Hebrides Overture” which you might also enjoy.
Schubert’s “Great” C major Symphony, perhaps? (#9)
Some folks also like the Schumann Symphonies — I am not one of them. He wrote 4
