Bossa Brazil

Bossa Brazil
Can anyone tell me where the samba rhythm emerged from and when? And don’t just say Brazil. Where in Brazil?

The two rhythms we will be discussing are the Samba and the Bossa Nova. Check this link to see and listen to a unique group of people play the Samba on YouTube! Samba Rhythm

“Samba de Roda” was born in Bahia at 19th century.

Samba as we have nowadays was born in Rio de Janeiro city at the beginning of the 20th century. It’s an urban culture.

There are several variations of samba in Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Espírito Santo, Maranhão, but the most popular is the samba from Rio.

Bossa Nova was born in Rio, at the 20th century, specifically at the 50′s and 60′s.

Some great artists are:
- Pixinguinha (choro style: very complex instrumental arrangement)
- Cartola (samba canção: it’s more romantic)
- Bezerra da Silva
- Demônios da Garoa
- Alcione
- Beth Carvalho
- Martinho da Villa
- Zeca Pagodinho

In Bossa Nova:
Vinícius de Moraes
Tom Jobim (Antônio Carlos Jobim)
João Gilberto
Baden Powell
Roberto Menescal
